Excellent ProductDec 24, 2006

I used to use Remington FaceSaver Pre-Shave Powder Stick for years and it was great on my face. Fantastic on reducing razor burn. Then the Swiss company that makes the product added 'parfum', and it just stunk. Big time. I went looking for another powder stick because I relied on these things to save my face as the product name implies. I tried Parks, and then Eltron, which it seems is the same company - both stinky.
This is the winner! Works great without the smell. I ordered it thru Amazon from Shavetronics, and they originally sent the Eltron version. When I called and told them of the error they immediately sent me a corrected order - no questions asked. Couldn't be happier.
The only thing I would say is to clean your shaver after using this or any powder stick. I've got one that you can rinse under the tap after using. If you don't clean it you'll need to replace the blades more frequently which can be costly.

Great stuff, but keep your shaver clean!Aug 26, 2006
By Aaron Bentley I've been using these for over 10 years. It does wonders for your face, but is death to your electric shaver if you don't clean it right. I went through a set of Philishave (Norelco) blades in 6 months, rather than the usual reccomendation of 2 years by being lazy in cleaning the blades. The powder is soothing to skin and you need only very little to soak up the oils on your face, but dammit, it'll dull your rotary blades quick if you don't clean them with the supplied brush. I switched to an old refurbished (by me) Remington foil shaver and the powder seems to have less of an impact on blade longevity with foil/screen shavers. Use sparingly! Shave dry! CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN!

Thought it was a gimmick!Sep 15, 2005

My first thought when I bought a Remington shaver and saw this in the suggested add-on section was "Yeah right. Another gimmick.". But since the shaver was only $20, I needed something to get over $25 to get super saver shipping. I figured what the heck, and added it on. To use it, you just rub this stuff on your face and neck (it smells like talcum powder), then smooth it around your with your finger to make sure you have some everywhere you're going to shave. Turn on your shaver and have at it. Don't worry if a bit gets on you or your shirt collar, it comes right off without staining. You get a very smooth, gliding, clean shave with absolutely no irritation whatsoever. And one bottle lasts for months! I guess for a "gimmick", this one's a winner! It works well with my Remington shaver and that was the claim made in the product description. But I do suggest that you wait until Amazon stocks it again so that it's eligible for Free Super Saver Shipping.

A lot of products made by the same Swiss companyDec 24, 2006

I have been using these sticks for many years and they do a great job of helping to keep your face from getting razor burn from daily shaving. Really fantastic, but......
Remington decided to "improve" the scent. I was revolted when I tried the new ones with the white/red/blue cap. The increase of 'parfum' is too much and just stinks - imho. What used to be a pleasant experience first thing in the morning has turned into a trial. I keep thinking I'll get used to it but I never have. Hmmm.....maybe noseplugs.
I would not recommend buying these in bulk, (as I used to do) until you've tried one to see if you can handle the smell.
After further research looking for a non-scented version, I found that Parks, Eltron, and Remington all seem to come from the same manufacturer in Switzerland. They all have the same smell. However.......
There is a version out there without the scent which is great!
It's called Derma Bloc Pre Shave Powder Stick - it's the same as the others without the intense SMELL.

Bit of a mixed blessingJul 13, 2010
By Ewan Grantham This talc-based product definitely helps avoid irritation from using an electric shaver. Unfortunately it also tends to gum up the shaver heads, and can sometimes make it harder to get a close shave. So while I like what it does to my skin, I don't care for the end result after the shave. You're probably better off with one of the liquid based pre-shaves if your face can tolerate it.
