Good enough for the priceOct 02, 2010
By Nick In short, it's almost as good as a cartridge razor. If you're just looking for a cheap razor that will last years, this is a good choice.
I've been using a Mach III Turbo for years, but the handle's rubber is starting to rot, so I thought I'd try a double-edge razor. I bought this razor as it was cheap but had good reviews. Curious to compare them, I've been shaving half my face with one, half the other, alternating sides for the last week or two, using a new blade for both.
I'm pretty happy with it. Most days I get a slightly better shave with the Mac III Turbo, but not by a large enough margin to care, and sometimes the Lord works better. On a few days I've had mild irritation with the Lord, but I think that's inexperience with the style of razor; that's happening less and less as I get used it, I doubt it will be a problem after a month.

Good intro to safety razorsMar 13, 2010

First off I am brand new to brush and safety razor shaving. I have used disposable razors and soap (hand lather) for many years. Recently I decided to try out a brush for lathering the soap. This led me to try a safety razor as well. I am still using the same soap as before (Dove) except I softened it and pressed it into a plastic cup and lather it with a brush. For an item at the bottom of the barrel price wise (not counting plastic ones) I am very pleased with the initial quality of this razor. Since my primary motivation for going to a safety razor is economy and not to start a new hobby, I think this razor will suit me just fine. My first shave was adequate with very little carnage. I believe with patience and practice this razor will serve me well. If for no other reasons than its light weight and low price, it seems to be a serviceable introduction to safety razors for me. My may upgrade at some point but more to get a twist to open razor than to "move up" to a higher quality one. Oh, I used the sample blade included for my first shave with it.

Excellent Choice!May 19, 2010

I bought this razor a few weeks ago, as an intro to old-school safety razor shaving. From my first shave, I knew I wasn't going back to disposables. Not a single nick, not even a scratch from day one. I've also been using Alum, as I have a pretty sensitive, curly-bearded neck. I am also still using the original trial blade with great success. This has been well-worth the price, and I heartilly recommend this to anyone interested in learning.

Occam's Razor!Dec 03, 2010
By L. Johnson I like it. I'm satisfied. I went shopping for a safety razor and couldn't find one anywhere. I wished I had my Dad's old 1930's razor, but that's long gone. I looked in antique stores to see what I could find, but nothing. My daughter suggested a barber supply, and being a hairdresser, she looked and said I'd have to pay a lot of money to get such a thing nowadays.
Then I remembered Amazon. I saw lots of expensive razors, more money than I was willing to pay, and the really costly ones didn't necessarily get good reviews.
Occam was right. The simplest razor is best. This is the bargain basement razor, el cheapo no frills version. And it works! It shaves just fine. Better than these plastic throw-away things nowadays.
There was a complaint about one of the expensive razors, that the handle was smooth so that the razor slipped around in the hand. This one has a lightly scored handle. I have no trouble with it slipping.
Another expensive razor got a bad review for having a shaving head that was too big. This one is just right.
Another expensive razor got a bad review for having too many bells and whistles in the form of some sort of pins or something that kept not working and getting in the way. This is a plain and simple functional razor with no useless extras.
Ten bucks. Not forty, not sixty, not eighty. And combined with other goodies I went over the $25 and got free shipping. I got my money's worth. I'm satisfied.

Great Razor - Great ValueSep 09, 2010
By The sale is final For less than half the cost of a 6-pack of Gillette Fusion Proglide Manual Cartridges you own a razor that shaves close, comfortably and, in the three (3) weeks I have been using it, has not nicked me even once. The Razor is well-balanced and holds the razoe blade firmly and in good alignment. It also travels well because it breaks down into three (3) pieces.
The Blades - I use Shark which I purchase on Amazon - are durable and quite acceptable.
I have a relatively heavy beard and two passes (one with and against the grain) give me a shave that is as good as the 'Best A Man Can Get' products. Throw in a shaving bowl, soap and a brush and the morning seems just a little easier to navigate.
You will like this Razor
